I recently read a discussion on the meaning of having a University degree and from which institution.
\nThe general discussion started out in somebody questioning if their UNISA degree carries as much weight as
\nthe same degree from the other full time Universities?
\nMany people seemed to be experiencing allot of people who seemed to project a status of higher prestige towards them if they had full-time degrees as opposed to Unisa degrees.
\nThis question exploded in a war of words between former and current students from all the different institutions in South Africa.
\nSome of the participants made for really interesting arguments, but the one that stuck to me was:
\n(fairly close to the end), one person made a very bold statement.
\n“Degrees are only useful in that they give a certain fluency in the discipline and indicate the candidate has the self-discipline to complete it. You shouldn\u2019t assume anything else. ”<\/p>\n

In all fairness everybody can perceive this argument as they see fit to do so. But one has to try be objective and take all valid arguments in to perspective.<\/p>\n
